From LAUNCH Music News:
Exactly which label will be releasing 'N Sync's next album has turned into a mystery. Earlier this month, Jive Records notified LAUNCH and several other media outlets and informed them that the label had lured the pop sensations away from RCA after the group's contract with Trans Continental Records ran its course (LAUNCH, 9/9). Now, however, Lou Pearlman has issued a statement maintaining that the group remains signed by his Trans Continental label and will continue to be distributed by RCA.

"With regard to 'N Sync, we remain committed to the fundamental principles of our agreements that state that 'N Sync has exclusive recording and other obligations to us and that 'N Sync is first and foremost a Trans Continental Records act that is distributed in the U.S. by RCA, a label of BMG," Lou Pearlman said in the statement.

Representatives from Jive and RCA were not available for comment at press time.

Trans Continental Records was founded in 1992 in Orlando, Florida by Lou Pearlman, a.k.a. "Big Poppa," and currently boasts several of the world's hottest pop acts, including the Backstreet Boys, LFO, C Note, Take 5, and Innosense, as well as the soon-to-be-released Phoenix Stone. Recently, they have also expanded their roster to include the hip-hop acts Trey D and Mista Brizz.

In the statement, Lou Pearlman also revealed that the label and the Backstreet Boys renegotiated their contract earlier this year. Terms of that agreement were not publicly disclosed, yet the company remains financially involved with the Backstreet Boys and is gratified with the group's continuing success. "Backstreet Boys renegotiated their agreements with Trans Continental Records, and we are pleased with the terms," commented Pearlman.
